The Town Heart

Botrivier lies just off the Whale Route to Hermanus. The town forms part of the Cape Country Meander Route and is situated in the first Biodiversity and Wine Route in the world. The town borders the Kogelberg Biosphere, the 700 hectare nature reserve, which are a fynbos hotspot and a UNESCO declared World Heritage Site.

Botrivier is no further than 9km from the ocean as the crow flies and it has its own, very mild, micro climate. It is a very favourable environment for cultivating top class vineyards and to produce real hot quality wines.

Botrivier is a little hotspot for various activities and events, and is perfect for mountain biking and hiking. The Bot Lagoon, just 14km via the R43, is a sailing, kite surfing and kayaking spot. The Arabella Gholf Course on the banks of the Bot, is a must for all lovers of the game. The Arabella golf course in South Africa is ranked by Compleat Golfer magazine as the number one golf course in the Western Cape. We also serve real cold beer.

Historically the town has played a role in the transport history of the country, mainly because because of its location. Serving as a trading post for the early Khoi and Dutch East India Companjie and later as an outspan for cattle and wagons travelling over the gruelling Houw Hoek Pass. The station was completed in 1912 and trains visited the town. Whatever however there was always something happening here.

Botrivier Tuinmaak Projek
